Kinship Adoption Program (Colorado Families Only)

A kinship adoption is one in which the prospective adoptive parents are closely related to the child they wish to adopt, and the child has been in their custody for at least one year. In some cases, we will provide "kinship" services to families who, although unrelated to the child, have had the child in their custody for at least one year.

Services to be provided for kinship adoptions depend on the requirements of the court. Relinquishment counseling is usually required for the birthparents, and a simplified family assessment or home study may be required. Contact our office for current information and fee schedule.
