| China Program -- networking Adoption Alliance has networked with many agencies to place children from China. We would be happy to refer you to families who have adopted from China as well. For Colorado families wishing to adopt from China, Adoption Alliance will provide your local services, including writing your home study, helping you to meet parent preparation training requirements and following up with post-placement services. Family requirements: Married couples are preferred. Singles are also allowed to adopt from China, but China limits the number of adoptions by single applicants to 8% of the total. China has requirements for adoptive applicants regarding age, number of children in the home, and income. Most adoptive applicants can meet these requirements. Children: The children available are usually girls, 6 months and older. Children are cared for in orphanages. There are some boys available, as well as children with special needs and older children. Some children immediately available have minor or correctable special needs. The Process: You will need to complete your home study and parent preparation education, apply to CIS and put together your dossier. Your dossier will be submitted to the China Center for Adoption Affairs. The wait for referral information about a child is currently 6-12 months. Children with special needs are immediately available. After you receive a photo and medical information about your child, you will travel to China for two weeks to complete the adoption paperwork. Then, you file the U.S. Embassy paperwork to receive your child's U.S. visa and return home. |
